I Quit My Job and Here's Why

I jumped in, feet first; I'm nervous, I'm excited, and I'm ready.

I jumped in, feet first; I'm nervous, I'm excited, and I'm ready.

Quitting my job meant leaving behind amazing coworkers. Smart, hardworking and creative coworkers. And I'm not just saying that - my team was amazing!.. And I'm sure they still are. (You know who you are.)

But quitting my job also meant putting myself first. It meant waking up each morning to decide what i want to do. It meant designing work because I choose to. Or choosing my own clients... And working with clients I admire.

To be honest, I'm nervous about this next chapter. I'm nervous about giving up the regularity that comes with a 9-5 job. The comfort that comes with a paycheck. Health insurance, dental, transportation... all these things I didn't have to be concerned with I now have to take an active role in managing. That in addition to building a life that I am PROUD of.

What do I want to do now? it's hard to say. I LOVE creating. I LOVE working with people. The options are endless and that is what makes this part challenging. It will begin with a plan. I'm sure it will change and I'm ok with that.

Taking this step was a challenge. But step 1 is now complete. I jumped in, feet first; I'm nervous, I'm excited, and I'm ready.

Next step will be creating a life based on passion, joy, love and most of all design. Want to join me? Message me privately or comment if you'd like to chat about a creative project. (My previous work primarily includes print and digital design for food, event and real estate industries as well as creative direction for web design and social media campaigns.)
